Flex Aware has a diagnostic button which can be used to check the cellular coverage at your installation location. It is important to ensure you have at least 2 bars of service at your installation location to ensure your device operates correctly.
You will need:
- Your Flex Aware device
- A paperclip (included)
How to Perform a Cellular Signal Test
Step 1. Go to the location where you plan to install your device
Step 2. Using a screwdriver, remove the battery door and temporarily insert the batteries. Leave the battery cover off
Step 3. Hold the Flex Aware sensor in the desired installation location
Step 4. Using a paper clip, push the diagnostic button for 5 seconds, then release. The device LED should now be active
Do not hold the button for longer than ten seconds, or the device will reboot. If this happens, please wait 60 seconds or until the device turns back on with a blinking LED before attempting the cellular test again.
Step 6. Once diagnostic mode is initiated, the LED will display the cell signal strength in a continuous loop for 2 minutes based on the patterns below. It may take up to 30 seconds for the signal strength to be acquired.
As you move the device, any changes in signal strength will be displayed by updates to the LED pattern. We recommend a signal strength of 2 bars or greater at your installation location.
